Monselice, the “Gateway to the Euganean Hills,” can be spotted from afar thanks to its iconic landmark — the Colle della Rocca (Rocca Hill). This hill is home to the city's most significant political, spiritual, and civil buildings, which have played a defining role in Monselice's history over the centuries.

Euganeans, ancient Venetians, Romans, Lombards, and various illustrious figures have loved and chosen this city as their exclusive place to leave a lasting mark. Among them stands out the “Stupor Mundi,” the famous Emperor Frederick II of Swabia. His fortress, perched at the top of the gentle hill, remains to this day the only military architectural structure in northern Italy directly linked to him.

This walk will be an opportunity to discover the importance of trachyte, the volcanic stone that forms the hill and gave rise in the Middle Ages to the name Monsilicis. We’ll explore a hill of many facets — one that reveals fascinating archaeological evidence, enchants with its rich and diverse nature, and boasts a globally unique feature: the Path of the Seven Churches.

The walk will start from Villa Pisani, pass through the historic center, and lead to the summit of Colle della Rocca.

Monselice , « Porta dei Colli Euganei » emerge già in lontananza  grazie alla sua icona distintiva, ovvero il colle della Rocca, sul quale sorgono tutti gli edifici di spicco politico, spirituale e civile che nel corso dei secoli hanno caratterizzato in maniera preponderante la storia della città. 
Euganei, Veneti antichi, Romani, Longobardi e svariati personaggi illustri, nelle varie epoche l’hanno amata e scelta come città esclusiva in cui lasciare la propria « firma », uno tra tutti: lo « Stupor Mundi », ovvero il famoso imperatore Federico II di Svevia, il cui mastio federiciano, sulla sommità della dolce altura, rappresenta ancora oggi l’unico elemento architettonico militare a lui legato nel nord Italia. Sarà questa l’occasione per scoprire l’importanza rivestita dalla trachite, ovvero la pietra di origine vulcanica da cui il colle è formato, e che nel medioevo ha dato vita al toponimo Monsilicis. Faremo esperienza di un colle dalle mille sfacettature che testimonia, risvolti archeologici davvero interessanti, che incanta con la sua ricca e variegata natura e che grazie al suo percorso delle « Sette Chiesette », rappresenta a tutti gli effetti un unicum a livello mondiale. 
La passeggiata partirà da Villa Pisani, attraversando il centro storico e avrà come meta principale, il Colle della Rocca con la sua sommità.

Loop Hike with Breathtaking Views of the Euganean Hills, the Plain, and Surrounding Villages
From the top, we’ll try to recognize each village one by one. On the way down, you’ll have the chance to stop directly at Villa Draghi’s terrace for the Euganea Film Festival screenings, where a refreshment area will be available — combining movement with a relaxing evening of cinema. We look forward to seeing you!

Escursione ad anello con splendidi panorami sui colli Euganei, sulla pianura e sui paesi circostanti, che dall'alto cercheremo di riconoscere uno ad uno. Durante la discesa sarà possibile fermarsi direttamente per le proiezioni di Euganea Film Festival sulla terrazza di Villa Draghi, unendo il movimento ad una rilassante serata di cinematografia.

The proposed hike forms the ideal link between Este and the surrounding hills.
We'll pass by the Prince’s Palace before reaching the charming hilltop village of Calaone. On the descent into the valley, we’ll enjoy the delicate fusion of cultivated fields, rural homes, and the vibrant life of the valley, eventually entering the gardens and walls of Este Castle.
Finally, you’ll have the chance to stop at the Teatro dei Filodrammatici for screenings as part of the Euganea Film Festival.

L'escursione proposta costituisce l'anello di congiunzione ideale tra Este e le colline soprastanti. Passeremo per il palazzo del Principe, per raggiungere poi il felice paesino collinare di Calaone. Scendendo verso valle potremo ammirare la delicata fusione tra i coltivi, le dimore rurali e l'animata vita della valle, entrando nei giardini e fra le mura del castello di Este. Sarà possibile infine fermarsi al teatro dei Filodrammatici per le proiezioni di Euganea Film Festival.

Il Sentiero del Principe

The Teatro dei Filodrammatici was inaugurated in 1978 but was built on the ruins of the former Oratory of the Holy Spirit, probably built at the end of 1600. The hall is run with regular prose seasons from autumn to spring. Numerous companies have been guests there; an almost complete showcase of the amateur (and sometimes professional) activity of the Triveneto, with a very wide repertoire, that privileges above all the Veneto theater. Parallel to the show business, the Calle della Musica theater performs other complementary functions: it hosts, for example, concerts, screenings, conferences, book presentations and other social and cultural initiatives. In one of the most characteristic locations in the center, with its intimate and welcoming appearance (also following a recent restoration), we can well say that the Teatro dei Filodrammatici has taken on the role of the city's "public lounge".
