Synopsis

Filmmaker Katy Scoggin, who is developing a film on evolution, reflects on her attempts to understand and find common ground with her father, a Christian fundamentalist and creationist. How do you engage in dialogue with someone whose views seem entirely incompatible with what you consider logical and scientific? A question that, from the intimate sphere of family life, extends to contemporary American society, still deeply marked by the polarization between scientific perspectives and religious interpretations of the world. Flood, executive produced by Laura Poitras, observes the fragile space of dialogue within an increasingly fragmented cultural landscape.
