The Tara is a river on the outskirts of Taranto whose waters are believed to have healing powers. The documentary take us on a journey through a territory where myths clash with reality and where so-called progress has taken a heavy toll on nature and society.

Volker Sattel and Francesca Bertin are on their second collaboration, following The Dome in 2016. Volker Sattel has directed and produced many medium-length and feature films and has also worked as a cinematographer. Francesca Bertin is a filmmaker who also works on interdisciplinary art projects and focuses on the themes of identity, memory and spatiality in her films.
