With the arrival of autumn, the coastal landscape of Sardinia changes face. The mistral blows strongly and the first rains between September and October mark the end of the summer season. Everything that animated the beaches during the warmer months is dismantled and taken away: furnishings are stored inside closed beach kiosks, hospitality spaces disappear, and the sea returns as the main presence with its relentless movement. On the shore, the traces left by an increasingly intensive tourist presence remain. Through a work that intertwines observation, the research carried out by scientists, and archival materials, Gaetano Crivaro develops an exploration of images and imaginaries that have shaped the contemporary relationship with the coast, questioning the ways in which the landscape is narrated, desired, and consumed.

Gaetano Crivaro is a filmmaker and documentary director based in Cagliari, Italy. His works have been presented at several international festivals, including the Locarno Film Festival, Visions du Réel, Festival dei Popoli, and Bellaria Film Festival, among others.
