People on Sunday - live by Krano

A 1930 manifesto. A contemporary musician. A live encounter brought to life.

The 25th edition of the Euganea Film Festival opens with Krano—winner of the 2025 David di Donatello for Best Original Song (Ti, from the film Le città di pianura)—who will compose and perform a live score for People on Sunday (Menschen am Sonntag), a silent film masterpiece directed by Robert Siodmak and Edgar G. Ulmer.

Set in Weimar-era Berlin, the film depicts a day of leisure for two men and two women spending a Sunday out of town. Featuring non-professional actors and experimenting with the conventions of hybrid cinema, People on Sunday captures the everyday life of the era with extraordinary freshness, becoming a work that has influenced generations of filmmakers.

Robert Siodmak (1900–1973) was a German director. Having emigrated to the United States in the 1930s, he is best remembered for the thrillers and film noir movies he made in Hollywood during the 1940s.

Edgar G. Ulmer (1904–1972) was an Austrian-born American director. He directed films that are now considered cult classics, such as The Black Cat (1934) and Detour (1945).

Krano is a singer-songwriter and composer. In 2026, he was awarded the David di Donatello for Best Original Song for the track "Ti," featured in the film Le città di pianura by Francesco Sossai, for which he also composed the original score.
